About Cordoba
Situated deep in the heart of central Andalusia, the ancient city of Cordoba is home to both the Spanish Guitar Seminar and the Festival de la Guitarra. The whole city has been declared a World Heritage Site and is a living legacy built by the diverse cultures that have settled in it throughout its history. In its time Cordoba has served as the capital of Hispania, a region ruled by the Roman Empire for more than 400 years, and the capital of Al Andalus under the mighty Moorish Empire from 711 to 1492.
Cordoba is also synonymous with art, culture, and leisure, thanks to the numerous cultural events that are organized in the city throughout the year ... including Flamenco festivals, concerts, ballet, and other activities that are complemented by museums, fine Spanish restaurants, and an exciting nightlife. To take a stroll through the historic quarter of Cordoba is to discover a beautiful network of small streets, alleys, squares and whitewashed courtyards ... many of them arranged around the famous Mezquita, which has served as the symbol of Cordoba since Medieval times. |
